How will I know what to do during a worship service?
How will I know what to do during a worship service?
- When you walk into the church building (sanctuary) you will be welcomed by a greeter or usher. They are there to help you find your way around or answer any questions, and will hand you a worship folder that has most of the service printed in it. You are encouraged to fully participate in worship, including singing, as you are comfortable. Hymnals are in each pew. We offer a hearing loop system and personal headsets for those who need a little help hearing what is going on.
- Children are especially welcome to worship! The liturgy is child-friendly with repeated refrains that kids can easily sing after a few times. Feel free to have them stand on the pew so they can see what is going on (please remove shoes first!) We have "Peace Packs" (activity bags) available to keep children busy during the sermon. For children up to five years old we have a nursery right off the narthex (lobby). A church staff member is always there to watch children, or you are welcome to stay with your child and listen to the worship over the speaker system.
- We currently are not offering Sunday School classes, however, children are invited to participate in all parts of our worship service.
- You do not need to be a Lutheran or a member of a church - we believe communion is a gift from God to all God's children. We leave it to parents to decide if their children should receive communion - as for us outstretched hands ready to receive is sufficient.
- Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. On any given Sunday, you may find people in suits and their Sunday best seated next to a family in shorts and T-shirts. Some kids wear their soccer clothes to church so they can get to their game right after worship. Jesus accepts you just as you are - and so do we.
