Men's Powerhouse
Ever wonder what this group does?
Is it a "secret society" in the church?
Well, let's explore what these guys do for the ministry of First Lutheran:
- The group was started more than 25 years ago by Bill Sturlaugson in conjunction with Pastor Foerster's request to form a men's group. Cooking was usually rotated around to each of the members until it was determined that some were better cooks than others!!
- They sponsor not one but two (2) young lads through the Christian Children's fund-total annual cost is approximately $700.
- They provide all the church's funding for the holiday food baskets each year - total annual donation = $300.
- They underwrite and prepare the annual Easter Breakfast for the congregation with an admission price that can't be beat anywhere!
- They underwrite the annual "Fathers & families" baseball outing each June, charging only enough to cover the ticket costs + a couple of $$ for the fantastic food prepared by our great Kitchen Angels.
- They meet almost every Saturday morning (they only defer meeting on those Saturdays that are major holidays) @ 7:30AM for fellowship, devotions and FOOD. Now, in the past, it has been said that these guys really are not too health conscious in their menu preparation. NOT TRUE!!! All food groups are represented.
- They also like to go out for cultural activities as the accompanying photos will testify. Their last trip was taken to the Nethercutt Collection Museum in Sylmar.
Come and join us on Saturday mornings. There's always room for another place at the table!
